Otjiwarongo to Etosha National Park
Etosha National Park offers excellent game viewing in one of Africa’s most accessible wildlife venues. Zebras and springboks are scattered across the endless horizon, while the many waterholes attract endangered black rhinoceroses, lions, elephants, and large numbers of antelope. Etosha, meaning "place of dry water," encloses a huge, flat calcrete depression (or pan) of about 5,000 km². The pan itself contains water only after exceptional rains and sometimes for only a few days each year, but it is enough to stimulate the growth of a blue-green algae that lures thousands of flamingos.
Your accommodation at Etosha Village is located near the southern entrance of the park (Andersson Gate). The lodge provides a perfect base for exploring the area, and the park itself is famous for its floodlit waterholes where visitors can observe a spectacular array of wildlife congregating and interacting at close quarters.
Please note: Local national park entry fees are not included in your tour price.

Etosha National Park
Spend a full day exploring the wonders of the park. You can choose to drive this route as a self-guided adventure in your rental vehicle or book an organized, guided game-drive excursion directly through the lodge.
The Etosha Pan: The Etosha Pan is undoubtedly massive. It is the most distinctive feature of the park and is so vast that it can even be seen from space. Formed millions of years ago, the pan stretches roughly 130 kilometers long and reaches widths of up to 50 kilometers in certain places. This means this striking salt crust covers almost a quarter of the entire national park!
Iconic Waterholes: Waterholes are the lifeblood of Etosha, offering a redeeming feature for unparalleled game viewing. They provide a great place to silently observe wildlife interacting in their natural environment. Because every waterhole features a distinct geological layout and water source, the animals spotted at each vary wildly from season to season. The primary waterholes to explore in this region include Okaukuejo, Okondeka, Halali, Goas, Sueda, and Salvadora.

Etosha National Park
Early this morning, you will depart for another immersive day inside Etosha National Park. Your primary focus will be exploring the areas surrounding the breathtaking Etosha Pan—a vast, bare, open expanse of shimmering green and white that covers around 4,800 square kilometers, making up almost a quarter of the entire park. Stretching 130 kilometers long and up to 50 kilometers wide in places, it is comfortably the largest salt pan in Africa and remains the park’s most distinctive and dramatic feature, visible even from space.
The pan was originally an ancient lake, but over time, shifting tectonic forces and climatic changes forced the rivers that once fed it to change course and flow out toward the Atlantic Ocean. Today, only the dry, sun-baked alkaline clay floor remains as a starkly beautiful reminder of the prehistoric oasis that once existed here, creating a dramatic backdrop for the region's diverse wildlife.
